Lesson 5: Sharing Your Faith with Confidence and Grace

Sharing your faith is not about pressure, arguments, or performance. It is about lovingly and clearly pointing people to the hope, grace, and salvation found in Jesus Christ.

Focus

Learning how to share the Gospel clearly, humbly, lovingly, and with dependence on the Holy Spirit.

In Lesson 4, we learned about living as a witness for Christ. A faithful witness lets their words, actions, love, wisdom, service, and character point people to Jesus in everyday life.

In this lesson, we focus on sharing your faith with confidence and grace. Many believers want to share Christ, but fear, uncertainty, rejection, or not knowing what to say can cause them to remain silent.

God does not call us to share our faith in our own strength. He gives us the Holy Spirit, His Word, the message of the Gospel, and opportunities to speak with humility, love, wisdom, and courage.

Key Scriptures

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.”

Romans 1:16, NKJV

“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us.”

2 Corinthians 5:20, NKJV

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”

Mark 16:15, NKJV

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?”

Romans 10:14, NKJV

“And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!’”

Romans 10:15, NKJV

Core Teaching

Sharing your faith begins with understanding the power of the Gospel. Romans 1:16 says that the Gospel of Christ is “the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.” The power is not in our personality, perfect wording, religious knowledge, or ability to persuade people. The power is in the Gospel itself.

This should encourage every believer. You do not have to be a professional speaker to share your faith. You do not have to know every answer to every question. You are called to faithfully point people to Jesus and trust God to work through His Word and by His Spirit.

The Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ came to save sinners. He lived without sin, died on the cross for our sins, rose again, and offers forgiveness, new life, and reconciliation with God to all who repent and believe in Him.

Sharing your faith means helping people understand who Jesus is, why they need Him, what He has done, and how they can respond to Him by faith.

2 Corinthians 5:20 says, “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ.” An ambassador represents someone greater than themselves. As believers, we represent Jesus. We do not share our faith to promote ourselves, win arguments, or prove we are right. We share because Christ has entrusted us with a message of reconciliation.

This means our attitude matters. We should share the truth with humility, compassion, and respect. The Gospel is urgent, but urgency does not require harshness. Truth and grace should be displayed together.

Mark 16:15 records the command to preach the Gospel to every creature. The mission of sharing Christ is not limited to pastors, evangelists, or church leaders. Every believer can participate in making Jesus known.

For some, sharing faith may happen through a Gospel conversation with a friend. For others, it may happen through prayer at work, outreach in the community, a testimony online, a devotional shared with someone, or a simple invitation to learn more about Jesus.

Romans 10:14 asks, “How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?” This reminds us that people need to hear the message of Christ. A godly lifestyle is important, but at some point, the message must also be spoken.

Many believers hesitate because they fear rejection. But rejection does not mean failure. Our responsibility is faithfulness. Some people may receive the message, and some may resist. God is the One who opens hearts.

Sharing faith with confidence does not mean being pushy. Confidence comes from knowing the Gospel is true, Jesus is worthy, and the Holy Spirit is present. Grace means we speak with love, patience, and humility.

A simple Gospel conversation can include these truths: God loves us, sin separates us from God, Jesus died and rose again to save us, and we are called to repent and place our faith in Him.

You can also share what Jesus has done in your own life. Your testimony may open the door for someone to understand the Gospel more personally. A changed life can become a bridge to a Gospel conversation.

The goal is not to force a response, but to faithfully plant seeds, speak truth, show love, and trust God with the outcome.

Personal Application

Begin by asking God to help you see people around you with compassion. Who in your life may need to hear about the hope of Christ? Who has been asking questions, showing signs of spiritual hunger, or walking through a difficult season?

Ask the Holy Spirit to give you courage and wisdom. Sometimes the first step is not a long conversation, but a simple question: “Can I pray for you?” “Have you ever thought about your relationship with God?” “Would you be open to hearing what helped me find hope?”

Do not let fear of saying everything perfectly keep you from saying anything at all. Speak sincerely. Share Scripture when possible. Keep Jesus at the center. Trust God to use your obedience.

Also remember that grace matters. People are not projects. They are souls loved by God. Share truth with compassion, listen well, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead the conversation.

Remember This Truth

The power is not in perfect words. The power is in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit.

A Simple Pattern for Sharing Your Faith

Use this pattern when God opens a door for you to talk with someone about Jesus.

The G.R.A.C.E. Pattern

  1. Go in prayer: Ask the Holy Spirit for courage, wisdom, compassion, and the right timing.
  2. Relate with love: Listen well and treat the person with dignity, patience, and respect.
  3. Ask thoughtful questions: Open the conversation gently instead of forcing it.
  4. Communicate the Gospel clearly: Point to Jesus, His death, His resurrection, repentance, faith, forgiveness, and new life.
  5. Entrust the outcome to God: Be faithful to share and trust the Holy Spirit to work in the person’s heart.

A Simple Gospel Outline

When sharing your faith, it can help to remember a simple way to explain the Gospel clearly.

The Gospel in Simple Steps

  • God created us and loves us: We were made for relationship with Him.
  • Sin separates us from God: All have sinned and need forgiveness.
  • Jesus came to save us: He lived without sin, died for our sins, and rose again.
  • We must respond by faith: God calls us to repent, believe in Jesus, and follow Him.
  • God gives new life: Through Christ, we receive forgiveness, salvation, and a new beginning.

Faith-Sharing Check

Use these questions to examine how God may be calling you to share your faith with confidence and grace.

Ask Yourself:

  • Do I believe the Gospel is the power of God to salvation?
  • What fear often keeps me from sharing my faith?
  • Who has God placed in my life who may need to hear about Jesus?
  • Am I willing to speak truth with humility and compassion?
  • Can I explain the Gospel simply and clearly?
  • Do I trust God with the outcome after I share?
  • What is one step I can take this week to point someone to Christ?

Bible Reflection Questions

  1. What does Romans 1:16 teach you about the power of the Gospel?
  2. What does it mean to be an ambassador for Christ according to 2 Corinthians 5:20?
  3. Why is it important to share the Gospel with both confidence and grace?
  4. What fear or hesitation do you need to surrender to God?
  5. Who is one person you can begin praying for and looking for an opportunity to encourage spiritually?
  6. How can you explain the Gospel in a simple and clear way?

Action Step
