WATCHMAN ALERT
Living Every Day Ready for Christ
Serving Faithfully, Walking in Holiness, and Joyfully Expecting the Return of Jesus Christ
“Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”
— Titus 2:13 (NKJV)
THE ALERT
Living with Eternity in View
Every generation has anticipated the return of Jesus Christ. Throughout history believers have searched for signs of His coming, while others have attempted to predict the day or the hour.
Yet Scripture consistently reminds us that the timing of Christ’s return belongs to the Father alone.
The danger is not failing to predict Christ’s return. The danger is living carelessly as though He will never come.
When believers become distracted by the cares of this world, consumed with temporary pursuits, or complacent in their walk with God, they gradually lose sight of the eternal hope that should shape every decision they make.
Jesus never called His followers to live in fear or endless speculation.
He called us to live faithfully.
Every day is another opportunity to honor Christ, proclaim the Gospel, pursue holiness, and prepare our hearts for the day we stand before Him.
Living ready is not about watching the headlines with anxiety. It is about walking faithfully with Jesus while joyfully awaiting His return.
The Central Truth
Living ready for Christ is not about predicting His return— it is about faithfully serving Him until He comes.
The Christian life is never meant to be lived with fearful speculation.
Nor is it meant to be lived with careless indifference.
Biblical readiness is active.
It means walking closely with Christ, faithfully serving wherever He has placed you, loving others well, proclaiming the Gospel, and pursuing a life that honors Him.
Our hope is not rooted in world events, political movements, economic stability, or human predictions.
Our hope is Jesus Christ Himself.
THE BIBLICAL FOUNDATION
Titus 2:11–13
“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Titus 2:11–13 (NKJV)
God’s grace does far more than save us.
It teaches us how to live while we wait.
Paul reminds believers that our anticipation of Christ’s return should produce holy living, faithful obedience, and joyful expectation— not fear, not speculation, and not complacency.
The believer who eagerly awaits Christ’s return should desire to honor Him in every area of life today.
THE DECEPTION
The Lie That Must Be Exposed
“There will always be more time.”
One of the enemy’s most subtle strategies is convincing believers that eternity can always wait.
More time to obey.
More time to forgive.
More time to pray.
More time to share the Gospel.
More time to pursue holiness.
Scripture continually reminds us that life is brief and uncertain.
None of us knows what tomorrow will bring.
That is why God’s Word repeatedly calls believers to live faithfully today.
The question is not whether Jesus Christ will return. The question is whether He will find us faithfully serving Him when He comes.
Living ready does not mean withdrawing from the world.
Nor does it mean becoming consumed with speculation about future events.
It means faithfully representing Jesus Christ wherever He has placed us, making the most of every opportunity until He comes.
THE WATCHMAN’S CALL
Examine Your Heart
Before moving on, take a quiet moment before the Lord.
Ask Him to search your heart honestly.
Ask Yourself
- Am I living today in a way that honors Christ?
- If Jesus returned today, would He find me faithfully serving Him?
- Am I investing my life in things that have eternal value?
- Is my hope anchored in Christ or in temporary comforts?
- Who has God placed in my life that needs to hear the Gospel?
Do not wait for a “better time.”
Walk with Christ today.
Love others today.
Serve faithfully today.
Live every day as someone joyfully awaiting the return of the King.

A Prayer for Faithful Living
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the living hope we have through Jesus Christ. Help us to live each day with eternity in view and joyful expectation of His return.
Guard us from becoming distracted by the temporary things of this world. Strengthen us to walk in holiness, remain faithful in every season, and serve You with wholehearted devotion.
Fill us with compassion for those who do not yet know Christ, and give us boldness to share the hope of the Gospel while there is still time.
May our lives reflect Your love, Your truth, and Your faithfulness until the day we see our Savior face to face.
Keep us watchful, steadfast, and ready for His glorious appearing.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
